HOOKS, Texas — New Boston was all business on the volleyball court as the Lady Lions swept the Hooks Hornets, 3-0, in District 14-3A action Friday.

The Lions won 25-20, 25-14, 25-21.

Several players contributed to the New Boston win. Megan Daniel served 17 points and had six digs, Lauren Daniel had nine points and 12 digs, Emma Holland seven kills, five points and three digs, and Haley McAlexander 22 assists and seven points.

New Boston's Lauren Hurst was credited with six kills and seven digs, Tamiya Smith had nine kills, two solo blocks and two digs, and Maggie Taylor 13 digs and four points.

The Lions will play at Paul Pewitt on Tuesday, with the junior varsity 2 match starting at 4:30 p.m., followed by JV 1 and varsity.

 

Bulldogs defeat Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Texas — Queen City posted a 3-1 victory over Pittburg in the Lady Pirates' Jack Arnwine Gym.

The Lady Bulldogs won 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-18.

A pair of seniors, Claire Bates and Gracie Weeks, sparked Queen City. Bates had 12 kills, eight digs and seven service points.

Gracie Weeks had seven kills.

The Bulldogs' other leaders were Nyla Harrison with 18 service points and 12 digs, setter Mallori Stringer had 14 assists and three kills, and Chyna Stiger eight digs and five kills.

Queen City split a pair of junior varsity games.

In match 1, the Bulldogs won, 25-21, 24-26, 25-22.

Serenity Oden had 12 service points and Kacey McCall seven points for the victors.

Pittsburg won the second JV match, 29-27, 25-22.

Queen City entertains Atlanta on Tuesday in a District 14-3A match.
