MAUD, Texas — Beckville played smothering defense, holding Maud to 44 yards of total offense as Bearcats blanked the host Cardinals, 40-0, Friday night.

Beckville (3-0) jumped out to a 20-0 first-quarter lead and made it 27-0 at intermission. Two more third-quarter scores made the final count, 40-0.

The Bearcats are averaging 45.3 points per game.

Maud was limited to 289 yards rushing on 34 carries. The Cardinals also completed 1-of-10 passes for 16 yards. Beckville made one interception.

Koby Williams led the Bearcats' offensive assault with four touchdowns, two on the ground and two in the air. He scored on runs of 13 and 7 yards, and caught TD passes of 17 and 49 yards from Ryan Harris.

Maud slips to 1-2 on the season.
