TEXARKANA, Texas — Pleasant Grove scored four runs in the fourth and toppled North Lamar, 12-5, in a District 15-4A baseball game on Tuesday at Hawk Field on Senior Night.

"I thought all three senior pitchers went out and filled up the zone," Hawks head coach Riley Fincher said. "It was great to see them come out tonight for their last regular season game at Hawk Field. Our dugout stayed in the game extremely well.

"After we gave up a 3-spot in the second inning, our guys came out and responded well. We have to respond in positive and negative situations. It was a great team win."

Pleasant Grove seniors Tucker Anderson, Reid Bingham, Coe Blain, Cason Head, Hayden Koller, Alex Murphy, Jaden Parker and Carson Rhodes were honored before the game.

"Our seniors are outstanding," Fincher said. "The amount of work they put in at practice, outside of practice and in the classroom is tremendous. We couldn't be more proud of them. We are grateful for the sacrifices that the parents make in order for them to be successful. We are excited to see what happens in the rest of the season."

Blain, who came in to pitch in the third inning, earned the win, tossed 4 1/3 innings, allowed a run on two hits, walked one, struck out four and hit a batter. Starting pitcher Rhodes threw two innings, allowed four runs on four hits, fanned four and walked four for the Hawks.

Pleasant Grove (22-6, 11-3) clinched a playoff spot with the win, while the Panthers fell to 8-21 and 5-9 in district.

Brenton Clark led off the Hawks' fourth with a double to left field. Clark moved up to third on a wild pitch and scored on a wild pitch to inch Pleasant Grove closer, 4-3. Josh Brown's RBI single up the middle knotted the game at 4-all. Koller slapped a 2-run single down the left field line to give the Hawks a 2-run cushion, 6-4, going into the fifth inning.

Clark smacked a double to right center with a runner on and scored on JM Long's 2-run single to right center as Pleasant Grove grabbed a 8-4 lead in the fifth. Head popped in a sacrifice fly RBI to score Long, and the Hawks went into the sixth up 9-4.

Long drove in Galvan, who hit an infield single, on a double to right field as Pleasant Grove vaulted to a 5-run lead, 10-5, in the sixth frame. Head laced in a 2-run double down the left field line to make it 12-5 going into the final stanza.

Brock Bearden walloped a triple off the center-field wall and scored on a wild pitch to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the first. JM Long punched in an RBI double to left to score Alex Galvan, who was hit by a pitch, to pad Pleasant Grove's edge, 2-0.

North Lamar took a 3-2 lead in the second frame on Tripp Thoms' 3-run round tripper that soared over the left-field wall. The Panthers tacked on a run in the third to go up 4-2.

Pleasant Grove plays at Gilmer on Friday at 6 p.m. in its last game of the regular season.
