TEXARKANA, Texas — Pleasant Grove got some revenge on Spring Hill and swept past the Pantherettes, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 in a varsity volleyball match on Tuesday at Hawk Gym.

"The intensity was high, and it was an awesome atmosphere," Lady Hawks head coach Amy Collvins said. "We lost to them in pool play in two different tournaments, so for us to get a sweep was really good. The kids came together and played a full game. We've had a lot of injuries that we've dealt with but a lot of growth has happened over the past two weeks."

The final set had just two ties at 3 and 7-all. After the 7-all tie, Pleasant Grove took charge of the set and never relinquished the lead. Hallie Lipham took serve with the Hawks up 17-15.

Lipham served in four points to give Pleasant Grove a 21-15 edge. Lipham, who finished with 15 kills, 11 service points and nine assists, hit a tip for a winner and then a kill for the last two points of the third set to seal the match.

Harleigh O'Neal had a match-high 13 service points and eight kills for the Hawks. Lexie Snyder made 16 digs, Mackenzie Williams made 12 assists and Sarah Hale had nine kills for Pleasant Grove.

The second set featured nine ties at 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18-all. It was the most competitive of all the sets. The difference in the set was a 5-point rally the Hawks put together late in the set.

Lipham took serve and had three aces, caused a serve-receive error and Hale had a kill during the rally to give PG a 24-18 edge.

Madison Carpenter sent a blazing kill down the back baseline for the clincher and to give the Hawks a 2-0 set lead in the match.

The first set had six ties at 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, and 15-all. Foreshadowing the second set, Pleasant Grove grabbed an 18-16 advantage and scored five consecutive points to take a 23-16 lead.

O'Neal took the server's box and smacked in five points to put the set further out of reach. During her service, Spring Hill had five errors, including a pair of serve-receive errors caused by O'Neal's diabolical serve.

Lipham sent a cross-court spike down the right baseline to make it 24-17, and Hale hit a tip for a winner as the Hawks seized the first set and momentum.

Abby Runion slapped in 12 service points to lead Pleasant Grove's junior varsity gold team to a 21-25, 25-14, 25-16 victory. Teammates Rylie Williamson and Mylee Blain each had seven service points.

Fallon Anthony's 18 service points propelled the Hawks over the Lady Panthers in the junior varsity black team's match, 25-9, 25-18.
