LAST WEEK: The Tigers lost their second straight in District 7-5A, Division I play, 62-41, to McKinney North. The Pirates trounced Sherman, 44-21.

LAST YEAR: Poteet beat THS, 46-28.

GAME FACTS: The Pirates played their first league game last week after observing an open date. Poteet is averaging 27.2 points scored and 34.6 allowed through five games. The Tigers are scoring 28 points and giving up 22.2 points per game. Tonight is the first Thursday game for Poteet, while THS played its season opener on a Thursday against Pflugerville Hendrickson. Sophomore QB Brayson McHenry threw for 344 yards and four TDs last week in his second varsity start. WR Kobe Webster caught three balls — two for touchdowns — and 125 yards. Poteet tailback Seth McGowan has 60 carries for 490 yards and two TDs this season, and Tristan Golightly has 24 catches for 359 yards and five scores. The game will be blogged live at
