TEXARKANA, Texas — Kerrighan Dunn, one of four seniors for Texas High, hit a 10-foot jumper at the final buzzer to help Texas High beat Lindale, 70-68, Friday at Tiger Center.

Dunn finished with 36 points, scoring 10 points in a quarter three times, on Senior Night. Twenty of her points came in the second half, and she scored the final eight points for the Lady Tigers, who trailed by six with 5:11 left.

Texas High shot 38 percent in the game on 26-of-69 field goals. The Tigers also held a 40-30 lead in rebounds and had 22 turnovers while forcing 30 by the Eagles.

Lindale shot 57 percent on 27-of-47 shooting but didn't manage a basket over the last 5:11.

Ahead by two points coming out of halftime, the Eagles took their largest lead of the night with 6:27 left at 40-34. The Tigers responded with a 12-5 rally to take the lead and went up five at 54-49 with 1:44 left in the third.

Lindale rattled off seven consecutive points, and Dunn drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to stake THS to a 57-56 lead to start the fourth.

The Eagles opened the final stanza on an 8-1 streak to go up 64-58 with 6:20 left in the game. Texas High closed the game with a 10-2 rally over the final 4:07.

The offenses worked quickly up and down the court in the first quarter. The Tigers went up 10-6 before Lindale tied the score with 4:15 remaining in the first.

The Eagles were up 16-13, but THS scored six in a row — two of those baskets on fast-break layups — to take a 19-16 advantage. Lindale scored five in a row to close out the first, taking a 21-19 at the first break.

Texas High opened the second period with a 7-2 run to take a 26-23 lead, but the Eagles responded with a 5-0 rally to regain the advantage. Lindale led the final 3:38 of the first half, taking a 35-33 lead into intermission.

The Eagles shot 60 percent from the field in the first half on 15-of-25 shooting. The Tigers shot 42 percent on 13-of-31.

Ashanti Northcross scored 17 points for Texas High, and Amari Morrison pulled down 10 rebounds.

Lily Chamberlain scored 16 points for the Eagles, Shelbi Steen added 15, Brooke Everett and Brenley Philemon had 12 points apiece, and Kalaya Pierce had 10.

The other seniors for THS were Keturah Johnson, Kahliyah Anderson and Sadeya Finley.
