MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — Texas High's girls track and field team added to the trophy case once again Thursday at the Mount Pleasant Invitational.

The Lady Tigers cruised to victory with 143 points — 49 points ahead of runner-up Nacogdoches, which scored 94. Daingerfield was a close third with 92 points, Gilmer fourth at 76 and Mount Pleasant fifth with 73 in the 12-team meet.

Carthage won the boys title with 157 points, with Texas High a close second with 133 points. Gilmer placed third at 82 points, edging host Mount Pleasant with 81, and Jefferson finished fifth with 67 points.

THS also won the junior varsity girls division with 200 points, and MP was second with 141. Carthage won the JV boys division, Mount Pleasant was runner-up, and Texas High placed third with 111 points.

Texas High's varsity girls won gold in eight events, including sweeping all three relays.

Kahliyah Anderson won the 200 meters in 25.97 and the high jump with a height of 5-4. Anderson also was the anchor on THS' 4x200 relay team, joined in the race by Daja Dade, Vanessa Perez and Mariza Peaz to finish in 1:44.93.

Dade, Daniyah Anderson, Perez and Anderson comprised the winning 4x100 relay team (49.48) and Perez, Fezeka Barnes, Valeria Perez and Daniyah Anderson won the 4x400 relay in 4:13.36.

Barnes also won the 400 meters in 1:02.24, Bobbi Hatchett took gold in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.41, and Valeria Perez won the 800 meters in 2:30.25. Barnes was second in the 800 in 2:32.26, and Faith Bellamy placed third in the 300 hurdles in 50.51.

Texas High's boys won three gold medals with Owen Likins winning the 3,200 meters (9:50.90), Evan Likins taking the 1,600 meters (4:33.52), and Daemarquez Willis claiming the 200 meters (22.58).

Caden Miller placed second for the Tigers in the long jump with a distance of 20-0 1/2, and THS' 4x200 relay team of Malique Fields, Kobe Webster, Miller and Willis finished second in 1:29.78.

Clayton Smith and Montarius Johnson went 2-3 for Texas High in the high jump with each clearing 5-10.

Owen Likins was third in the 800 meters in 2:07.26, Tracy Cooper was third in the 300 hurdles in 42.75, and Tyrell Miller was fourth in 11.47.

The other Tiger relay teams finished third, with the 4x100 team of Fields, Willis, Alexander Mackey and Miller running 43.05. THS' 4x400 relay team of Lathan Ragland, Jalen Jones, Tyler Harris and Smith were the bronze medal team with a time of 3:30.11.
