WHITEHOUSE, Texas — Texas High needs to beat seventh-ranked Huntsville twice today to continue its softball season.

The Lady Tiger fell to the Lady Hornets, 13-3, in the Class 5A bi-district opener Wednesday at Whitehouse's Lady Cat Field.

Huntsville (25-3) had five home runs by four different players in the opener.

Texas High (11-10) stranded six on in the early innings and trailed 2-1 when the Hornets broke open the game with a 7-run inning. THS managed three hits by Vanessa Perez, Mollie Fisher and Lauren Allred, who belted a 2-run home run late in the game.

Game 2 is slated for 6 p.m. today, and if the Tigers win and force a third game it will be played following a brief intermission.
