HALLVILLE, Texas — The Texas High JV soccer team took a five game unbeaten streak into their road match against Hallsville Tuesday evening. Their hopes to extend the streak to six took a heavy blow with a Hallsville goal five minutes into the match. The Tigers appeared to regain their swagger five minutes later when Roberto Rodriguez scored a tying goal on an assist from Javier Mendoza. The back and forth struggled continued with Hallsville hitting the post with a shot in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute Texas High put a shot off a corner kick over the goal.

The deadlock ended in the 25th minute when Hallsville landed a shot just over the keeper. A minute later Hallsville score another goal on a breakaway bringing the score to 3-1 where it stayed into the half.

For much of the second half the Tiger streak looked fated to end. With 7 minutes remaining Rodriguez scored on a solo run through the Hallsville defense. Moments later he received one of the three Tiger bookings. Goalkeeper Aiden Bennett received a yellow about the same time. Mathew Delk came in briefly to replace Bennett until the next stoppage in play. That stoppage came in the final minute of the match when Vicente Jaralillo scored the tying goal on an assist on a punt from Delk.

Jaralillo also had the Tigers other yellow card in the match. The match ended in a 3-3 tie extending the Tiger unbeaten streak to six. Tiger Coach Zak McCarthy said that the result "was a wake up call to stay locked in."
