TEXARKANA, Ark. - Northeast Texas Community College pitcher and former Pleasant Grove Hawk Tyler Jeans committed to Arkansas State on June 1, joining the Red Wolves baseball program.

"It feels great," Jeans said. "I was in junior college for three years, so it's a good feeling to see all the hard work paying off. That's the dream of every guy; playing junior college baseball."

Jeans finished the shortened 2020 season 1-0 for the Eagles. Jeans appeared in eight games, averaging 5.1 innings.

"My older brother Trey is in the White Sox organization," Jeans said. "Reaching his level is definitely motivation. My brother and I are very competitive. I can't wait to get to Jonesboro and get started. I'm hoping I can fit somewhere in their rotation. I have three years of eligibility left and I plan to make the most of it.

"I received my Associates Degree in Human Performance from Northeast. I spent my last year there taking business classes, so I plan to continue majoring in Business, once I get to ASU."
