REDWATER, Texas - Redwater standout athlete Preston Davis signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday.

Davis has been a leader for the Dragons' football and baseball teams. He played at quarterback and is a pitcher and infielder in baseball.

"UALR is getting a really good competitor with a great upside," Redwater athletic director Tommy Graf said. "He has good size and strength. They have recruited Preston as a pitcher and has been clocked in the lower 90s. The sky is the limit with him. He is a hitter and can play other positions. He can help a team in many different ways. Preston is a natural, great athlete.

"He gave us the opportunity to be successful and played quarterback for us. He wants to win at all costs and puts in a lot of time and effort. Preston's work ethic is good. He is naturally gifted and is very strong. He is very coachable and does not make the same mistake over and over. He makes the needed adjustments."

Davis is 6-foot-3 and weighs 215 lbs, which is excellent size for a baseball player. He played summer baseball to hone his skills.
