Catfishing remains best bet out at Wright Patman Lake

TEXARKANA, Texas - Catfish have been biting good out at Lake Wright Patman.

The best baits to use for catfish are live baits, punch bait and chicken livers.

Largemouth bass are fair on craws, lizards and crank baits along rocky points, creek channels and timber. White bass are good on swim baits in the creeks. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs near creeks, structure and brushy piles.

Out on Millwood Lake in Ashdown, Arkansas, largemouth bass have been in spawning mode for the past two-to-three weeks. Many bass beds continue being seen with pre-spawn females staging and spawning. Largemouth bass were improved a little more with warmer daytime highs and warm southern winds.

Brazalo Spinner baits in white/chartreuse, Millwood Mayhem Bream and Spot Remover have caught some decent sized bass, and Chatter baits picked up some 3-5 pound largemouth bass.

Bass Assassin Shads continue to draw good reactions. Salt and Pepper Silver Phantom, Pumpkinseed and Grey Ghost are the best colors for bass assassin shads. Best colors of Bugs and Beavers have been Black Neon, Grasshopper, Blackberry and Pearl Bream.

Catfish are biting consistently in Horseshoe and Mud oxbows up Little River on yo-yos, and limbl ines in the oxbows. It is best to use King's Punch Bait, chicken livers, chicken gizzards and hot dogs.

Many 3-pound white bass have been reeled in along the river on Rocket Shads, Little Georges, Chuck'n Spins, Rooster Tails, spoons and crank baits.

Crappie have improved on jigs and minnows in Mud and McGuire oxbow lakes up Little River. Crappie are holding in 8-9 feet of water.
