FISHING REPORT | Catfishing at Millwood Lake has improved; Patman slow

TEXARKANA, Texas -The fishing on Lake Wright Patman is slow for the second consecutive week.

Crankbait, fluke and drop shot lures have been slow for largemouth bass around rocky points, timber and creek channels.

Jigging spoons and slabs are slow for white bass. Minnows and jigs are slow from crappie in brushy piles and structure areas. Punch bait and live bait are slow for catfish.

At Millwood Lake in Ashdown, Ark., largemouth bass have been randomly found in creek channel swings in the oxbows and vertical structure on deeper drops. These bass have been fair on cranks, 1-Knocker Rat-L-Traps, chatter baits and jigs. The best part of the day has been mid-day and in the heat of the day.

White bass have been inconsistent and no solid data has been established this week.

Crappie have been slow mostly due to low water clarity from the runoff and rain. Crappie can be found mostly around planted brush piles in the oxbows and near standing timber. Bites on jigs, minnows and chartreuse/black jigs have been greatly reduced.

The best fishing has been for the channel catfish, which improved in Little River on trotlines. Punch bait, chicken livers and chicken hearts has been good in the oxbows using limb lines.
