New Boston's interim city administrator to start early next month

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Elizabeth Lea Burns, who at one time served as Nash city administrator, will serve as New Boston's interim city administrator starting early next month.

New Boston City Secretary Sharmin Hutto confirmed last week that the New Boston City Council agreed Dec. 17 to hire Burns as the city's interim administrator.

While New Boston hasn't had a city administrator in several years, Hutto said that Burns isn't the first.

Burns, who will start on Jan. 6, will receive $84,000 annually, Hutto said.

Burns worked as Nash's city administrator for about 17 years between April 1996 and March of 2013, a Nash city spokeswoman said.
