HOPE, Ark - The Hempstead County Quorum Court agreed late last year to set up a proposed one cent sales and use tax as a special election item on the primary election ballot in March. This special election will ask voters to grant a one cent sales and use tax for the purpose of converting the former Farmers Bank and Trust building into the new courthouse as well as provide funds for the removal of the current courthouse, if such is deemed necessary.
The current courthouse has served the county for more than 80 years. The Quorum Court and elected county officials are inviting residents to a series of informational meetings
on the election.
The schedule and locations of the meetings are:

January 30: Spring Hill Fire Station
February 3: Fulton Community Center (6:30 pm)
February 4: Bingen Community Center
February 11: McNab Community Center
