'Social Distancing' Parade will be held Thursday

Texarkana Independent School District's Wake Village Elementary and City Officials' "Social Distancing" Parade will be held 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m Thursday.

It will begin and end at the Wake Village campus and feature teachers, administrators, city officials, police units and fire trucks all honking their horns to bring a parade of happiness to those students who have not been able to attend school due to the coronavirus
closure.

Those along the parade are encouraged to dress up and create signs to show their Tiger pride. They are also requested to practice social distancing and remain in their own driveways and not enter the street during the parade.

It was originally scheduled in April, but was postponed because it was deemed as discretionary travel by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. It has been rescheduled now that some coronavirus restrictions have been lifted.
