NEW BOSTON, Texas - Despite a year of delays, social distancing and quarantines, Lion Legacy Theatre of New Boston High School will forge ahead to produce a musical, "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown."

"We had plans to do a much larger show this fall. But after how last year's school year ended and delays in starting this year, our plans changed." says Missy Lyda, NBHS theatre director, in a news release.

Show dates are 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at New Boston High School Theatre.

"The past two years we have included students from elementary through high school level in our shows but this year and the guidelines set forth during these times it just wasn't possible. However we couldn't let the year go by without bringing our form of sunshine to our community and area," Lyda said.

Carter Smith, who plays title character Charlie Brown, said, "For the past two years I've been in charge of all the tech for our shows. It's a really fun experience to be on the other side of the spotlight for a change."

"This show has pushed me outside of my comfort zone by playing the part of Sally Brown who is loud and sassy. But I am thrilled that Ms. Lyda finds ways to push us where we didn't know we could go," says junior Lee Inman, who plays Charlie Brown's sister, Sally Brown.

"Although the cast size is small, it is full of huge personalities that make these characters come to life," Lyda says. "The students and I are very fortunate to have the support of our administration and parents to allow us to continue performing during all the challenges that everyone has faced during this year."

The musical has a cast of 13 and a crew of four. This show includes favorite Peanuts characters, upbeat music and plenty of laughs.

Tickets will only be sold in advance and COVID-19 precautions and social distancing will be observed. Tickets are $5. For ticket purchase or reservations, call 501-626-6778.
