The H.U.G. Club in Hughes Springs certainly had the best name. H.U.G. meant Hughes Useful Girls. Organized in 1919 at the home of Mrs. J.S.D. Taylor with a membership of 12 young women and two older ladies as sponsors, the club disbanded during World War II. However, this permanent marker in a Spring Park flower garden makes the club unforgettable.
