The Wildflower Trails Festival parades recognized not only flowers but also people in the three towns of Linden, Hughes Springs and Avinger last Saturday.
At least 10 cars with maidens atop rolled by the crowds, their riders having achieved various "Miss" titles from towns and organizations. In their colorful dresses, the ladies waived eagerly while relatives inside the cars threw plenty of candy to the crowds.
Such parades also included the young and old who rode, walked or joined groups on trailers to celebrate their fellow citizens and community service endeavors.
A parade simply delivers a good time for all involved. Maybe even the animals enjoy prancing and showing off.
