Bowie commissioners explore moving juvenile detention to Harrison County

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Bowie County Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m., today to consider allowing the county judge to contract juvenile detentions services outside the county.

Court members, who will meet on the Bowie County Courthouse's second floor, will consider allowing Bowie County Judge Bobby Howell to seek an agreement with Harrison County to provide both pre-adjudication and post-adjudication juvenile detention space for at least the upcoming 2022 Fiscal Year, which starts Oct. 1.

With 2022 also being an election year, Commissioners plan to set up and adopt any new political redistricting boundaries.

In other business, Commissioners Court members will open and study bids for a courthouse electric generator.
