County may extend heavy rainfall disaster declaration

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Even though this area is now experiencing near summer-like temperatures and dryness, Bowie County commissioners will consider extending a local disaster declaration related to recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

The commissioners, who will meet at a 9 a.m. today in their gathering room on the Bowie County Courthouse's second floor, will consider extending the June 9 declaration.

In other business, court members will also consider approving an annual road report as well as declare some county property as surplus and ready for sale. They will also consider advertising for bids on a generator for the courthouse.
Court members will also go into executive closed session to continue discussing security and personnel matters as well as litigation.
