Body of missing Texarkana man found in vehicle in McKinney Bayou

The body of a man who was reported missing Sunday has been found in a car submerged in a Miller County bayou.

The Arkansas State Police have ruled the death an accident.

Reuben L. Madison, 33, of Texarkana, Texas, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 82 early Sunday when he drove off the south side of the highway at the 13 mile marker and the vehicle became submerged in McKinney Bayou, said ASP Capt. Brady Gore.

"It appears he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the bridge into the water," Gore said.

Investigators believe the accident happened about 4 a.m. Sunday. Madison had left a relative's home in Lafayette County about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

"He left and was supposed to go home to Texarkana but he never returned home," Gore said.

Family members searched for Madison on Sunday and reported him missing. The 2006 Jeep Cherokee was spotted in the water early Monday. Madison was found about 8 a.m. Monday, Gore said.
