Main Street Texarkana issued a check for $4,700 to JP Masonry of 400 East St. in Texarkana, Arkansas.

The check, issued through MS-T's Main Street, Texarkana, Arkansas program is in matching funds that JP Masonry, owned by Dennis Pascarella, used to give the facade a new paint job.

"Still work to do on the front, as it is old," Pascarella said. "But these funds are helping us get the work done, mostly the paint work. There's still more work to do. We will be converting the front to stonework. My business is masonry, though, and we will be doing that work ourselves.

Tuesday's meeting, the last Main Street Texarkana meeting for 2019 took stock of the events at year's end, as well as possible projects for the coming year.

"We had a total number of about 112 floats at this year's downtown Christmas parade," said Ina McDowell, Main Street Texarkana's executive director. "One of the biggest we've ever had."

Though no official numbers were available at the meeting, most members agreed that this year's attendance was at record levels.

The board also recognized the considerable amount of volunteer support that came out to provide various services.

"There was so much to do at this event, so much to get done, Main Street Texarkana could never have pulled off this event without all the volunteers," McDowell said.

Main Street Texarkana board president Larry White expressed his apprecition for the volunteers and the enthusiastic support from the community.

"We also can't say enough about help from both sides of the city," he said. "And they've been enthusiastic about how it all went down. Record attendance, restaurants were filled, parking was at capacity, folks turned out for this thing.

"Both police departments did an excellent job as well, keeping a handle on things. Just the way they handled the barricades at the event, even removing them as the event moved on down the street, that was superb."
