Texarkana College board will meet Monday

TEXARKANA, Texas - Texarkana College's Board of Trustees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday to consider the 2018-19 audit and guidelines for potential tax abatement agreements with property owners.

The college is allowed to enter into the agreements under the authority of the Texas Abatement Act, which allows property owners in an area designated as a reinvestment zone or enterprise cone to be exempt from tax for all or part of the property's increased value if specified improvements are made.

If adopted, the guidelines would go into effect immediately and remain in force for two years.

In other business, the board will also consider an externship in the Continuing and Business Education department.

The meeting will be held in the Patman Room of the Truman Arnold Student Center, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, Texas.
