Texarkana, Ark., Police Department will host the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board in August to teach a four-hour block course on rules and regulations governing the oversight of medical marijuana cultivation and possession.

With the new medical marijuana dispensary opening in Texarkana, Ark., in the near future, state laws, city ordinances and the way law enforcement handle marijuana possession will change, according to information from TAPD.

This course is open to all area law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, and judges. Seating will be limited.

The training courses will discuss the rules and regulations which govern the oversight of medical marijuana cultivation facilities and dispensaries in Arkansas, as well as, the possession of medical marijuana by medical marijuana cardholders. This instructional block is designed to open conversations regarding oversight and enforcement by local, state, and federal organizations.

The training will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. August 13 and 27 in the Texarkana Ark., Police Training room on the first floor of the Bi-State Justice Center.
