Center numbers show an uptick in state tourism

The mottos "tourism and you" is "The Perfect Blend" and the numbers prove tourists travel Arkansas.

The staff of the Arkansas Welcome Center on Interstate 30 east of Texarkana, Ark. hosted a meet and greet Friday to introduce the Little Rock tourism crew to Southwest Arkansas.

The Texarkana Welcome Center finished 2018 with 304,742 visitors, said Manager Melissa Adams

The numbers have been getting attention regarding the growth in tourism.

"This is a chance for local officials to meet the tourism officials from Little Rock," said Adams. "Tourism benefits local governments."

The Texarkana area has two Arkansas travel centers.

The remodeling of the Red River tourism center on U.S. Highway 71 helped to attract tourists, officials said

The total for Red River was 33,557. The combined total of the Red River center and the I-30 facility was 338,299 for the year of 2018.
