TEXARKANA—The Texarkana Area Community Foundation gave away 50 grants for a total of $92,152 at its annual grant reception Tuesday night at the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council.

Of that total, $11,350 came from the Andrew G. and Sarah S. Goesl Endowment.

"Smart giving promotes philanthropy" is the foundation's motto.

Texarkana Area Community Foundation is one of 28 affiliate offices of the Arkansas Community Foundation.

Ken Cox has been executive director of Texarkana Community Foundation for seven years.

"I love that we have a lot of nonprofits we can help. The more the merrier. The needs of our area are very, very diverse," Cox said.

Grants range from about $500 to $3,000.
