TEXARKANA, Texas - A local man died Saturday after he was shot during an early morning home invasion in the 1000 block of College Drive.
Craig Garner, 29, and his wife were awakened by someone kicking at the door of their River Crossing apartment around 1 a.m. Saturday. When he got up to investigate, the intruder, or intruders, broke in and shot Garner outside their bedroom, his wife said.
Police officers arrived at the scene at 1:19 a.m. where they found Garner suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed by ambulance to Wadley Regional Medical Center where he later died, according to Shawn Vaughn, Texarkana, Texas, Police Department public information officer.
