Grimm's Fairy Tales exhibit at 1894 Gallery

The 1894 Gallery at 105 Olive St. in Texarkana, Arkansas, invites the public to visit an art exhibit about the original Grimm's Fairy Tales.

A reception will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Meet artist Amily Miori, dress as a favorite fairy tale character and join the fun. Enjoy the vivid characters coming out of the frames. The names of those dressed up will be drawn for prizes. The exhibit will run through Nov. 30. Student and group tours are welcome.

Says the artist in her statement: "My name is Amily Miori. You can call me Phenomenal Anomaly Amily. This show has been an amazing experience for me. It started when I was trying to figure out how to make art that was relatable, yet totally unexpected and education based. Forlorn and mysterious characters coming out of oil paintings! Summoned forth by a storyteller who is your guide for the evening. She is from the time of your ancestors and wants you to to see fairy tales as they did. Dark, foreboding and not to be trifled with! Not quite the blissfulness relayed in modern times. Beware the nightmares! These are the tales your parents wouldn't let you hear."

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 870-330-5003.
