Trial under way for man accused of sexual assault at gunpoint

NEW BOSTON, Texas - Testimony is expected to begin this morning at the Bowie County Courthouse in the trial of a man accused of aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon.

LaDavion White, 24, is accused of attacking a woman at gunpoint in her Wake Village, Texas, home in August 2018. According to a probable cause affidavit, White's DNA matched samples collected from the woman's body during a sexual assault examination at a local hospital Aug. 16, 2018.

A jury of eight men and four women was selected Tuesday to decide the case. White faces five to 99 years or life in prison if convicted.

White is represented by Texarkana lawyer Derric McFarland. First Assistant District Attorney Kelley Crisp and Assistant District Attorney Lauren Richards are prosecuting. Presiding over the case is 202nd District Judge John Tidwell.

White is being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $50,000.
