COVID-19 death reported in Cass County over weekend

One person in Cass County, Texas, was among almost 3,000 Americans who died of COVID-19 since Friday.

The local emergency Joint Operations Center on Monday reported the county's sixth death from the disease alongside an increase in confirmed coronavirus cases from 149 to 153. There are 71 active cases in the county, and 76 patients there have recovered.

Bowie County, Texas' case count rose from 619 to 630, with 306 active cases, 286 recoveries and 38 deaths, according to the JOC.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Morris County's tally increased from 91 to 97 and Titus County's from 1,156 to 1,170, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Red River County held at 134 cases.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County's case count went up from 451 to 470, with 68 active cases, 398 recoveries and four deaths, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Lafayette County's count rose from 48 to 49, Pike County's from 77 to 81, Little River County's from 149 to 156, Hempstead County's from 200 to 220, Howard County's from 291 to 300, Nevada County's from 129 to 133 and Sevier County's from 929 to 939.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 155 cases for a total of 6,299, and Bossier Parish added 64 cases to reach 2,118, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 44,597 cases with 475 deaths. Louisiana reported 120,846 cases with 3,910 deaths, and Texas reported 442,014 cases with 7,016 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 4,649,102 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 154,471, an increase of 2,972 since Friday.
