Man accused of molesting 16-year-old relative

TEXARKANA, Texas - A man accused of sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old relative is being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $100,000.

Ronald Orval Gaye, 57, was arrested June 5 by Texarkana, Texas, police on a charge of sexual assault of a child. Jail records in Bowie County indicate Texarkana, Arkansas, police have placed a hold on Gaye for sexual misconduct charges as well.

The alleged victim was interviewed June 3 at the Texarkana Children's Advocacy Center, according to a probable cause affidavit. She allegedly reported that Gaye has been touching her inappropriately since approximately May 2019 at locations in Texarkana, Texas, and Texarkana, Arkansas.

The girl described the most recent encounter with Gaye that occurred in the living room of a house in Texarkana, Texas. The girl allegedly said she had fallen asleep in the living room and woke to Gaye fondling her.

The girl said Gaye told her that he thought she wanted the contact and that most girls lose their virginity at her age. The girl described multiple alleged instances of unwanted sexual advances and contact by Gaye, to whom she is related and with whom she was previously living.

Gaye's current charge is sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison. He is scheduled to appear in court next week for a preindictment hearing before 202nd District Judge John Tidwell.
