Concert: 'From the Caucasus to the Caspian Sea'

MOUNT VERNON, Texas - Mount Vernon Music hosts award-winning flutist Mehrdad Gholami in a musical exploration of cultures at the convergence of Europe, Asia and the
Middle East.

The program is 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Mount Vernon Music Hall, 402 Leftwich St.

Themed, "From the Caucasus to the Caspian Sea" the audience will experience music largely unknown to Western audiences, by composers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia, Russia and
Turkmenistan.

Gholami recently completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at TCU, and next to a busy performance schedule works with The Cliburn's "Cliburn in the Classroom" educational
program.

Performing with Gholami will be Evan Mitchell, piano; Mark Miller, violin; and Zachary Mansell, cello.

Tickets are $10 for MVM members, $20 for non-members, and $5 for college students with valid ID. Children's admission through high school is free. (eighth grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder.) Tickets are available at squareup.com/store/mount-vernon-music-association
