TEXARKANA - Habitat for Humanity Texarkana recently received a substantial donation to help build a house this spring.

Texas Catholic Daughters of Americas State Regent Melodie Brunt presented a $10, 000 check to the Habitat for Humanity Texarkana Board at the local CDA meeting. It was described as a down payment towards the spring build.

"We (CDA) have met the home buyer and are working to raise funds and look forward to building the house side by side with CDA's from all over the state of Texas, the home buyer and the HFHT volunteers," she said.

The National order of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas has partnered with Habitat for Humanity in building 32 homes for deserving families. State and Territorial Courts of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas have built an additional 22 Habitat for Humanity Homes; six of those homes were built by Texas CDA members.

CDA members from around the state of Texas are scheduled to come in on Saturday, Feb. 22 to raise the walls.
