TEXARKANA, Ark. — The Live United Bowl has a new title sponsor heading into the 2020 football season.
Farmers Bank & Trust will take over as title sponsor for the game, held every first Saturday in December at Arkansas High School's Razorback Stadium.
The Farmers Bank & Trust Live United Bowl is one of only three NCAA Division II postseason bowl games in the country.
"It's very exciting for us," said Texarkana, Arkansas, Mayor Allen Brown, bowl chairman. "Farmers Bank & Trust opens up a lot of opportunities for the bowl game. The success of the bowl game isn't necessarily how many tickets we sell, but it's very successful when you have community partners that want to partner with you. To keep the title sponsorship local will pay dividends for us going forward.
Farmers Bank & Trust has a three-year agreement to sponsor the Live United Bowl, starting this year. Agent Barry held the naming rights to the Live United Bowl the last five years.
"Dean and LaCrecia Barry are incredible people," Brown said. "They are both Texarkana people. They don't care which side of the state line it falls on, and they saw an opportunity here to help the community, as well as help the United Way. He took advantage of that and helped us tremendously. He and LaCrecia helped open doors for Farmers Bank & Trust to become our next corporate sponsor. He is responsible for showing people that this thing does work and it's also helping a worthy cause."
The 2019 Agent Barry Live United Bowl donated $14,000 to the United Way of Greater Texarkana.
"We're rooted in Texarkana, and I would like to keep the title sponsor local," Brown said. "We've had opportunities to not keep it local but when we have people in the community that want to step up, we're going to keep it that way."
The Farmers Bank & Trust Live United Bowl will select the highest ranking Great American Conference team that doesn't make the playoffs and one from either the Lone Star Conference or the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association to participate.
