Texarkana, Ark., Ward 4 City Board Director Travis Odom resigns, search begins for new representative

Texarkana, Ark., Ward 4 Director Travis Odom has resigned his post citing health issues, according to a press release from the city.

Odom submitted his resignation to Mayor Allen Brown and the Board of Directors.

Odom was elected as Ward 4 Director in 2014 and elected again in 2018.

"For the past five years, he has represented his ward and the City well with his involvement in street development and the 'One Street at a Time' initiative as well as his support of the rehabilitation of the old Boys and Girls Club and the construction of a new animal shelter," according to a news relese from the city.

"Director Odom has been an advocate for all City employees and often expressed his gratitude. Director Odom has been a champion of the City and he will be greatly missed," the release states.

Odom's term ends in 2022.

Ward 4 is bordered by Realtor Avenue to the north, East 18th Street to the south, Jefferson Avenue to the east and State Line Avenue to the west.

Those interested in serving should submit letters of interest for the position of Ward 4 Director to the city clerk by Jan. 31.
