Bowie County reports 286 active coronavirus cases, three more deaths

Bowie County, Texas, reported three new deaths because of COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the total to 34.

The local emergency Joint Operations Center reported the deaths along with three new confirmed coronavirus cases, for a total of 546 counted since the pandemic began. Two-hundred twenty-seven Bowie County patients have recovered, and the county is tracing 286 active cases.

Because COVID-19 deaths are recorded where patients die, not where they lived, it is likely that some deaths reported in Bowie County are among patients who resided elsewhere.

Cass County, Texas' case count increased from 94 to 97 Wednesday to Thursday, with 50 recoveries and two deaths, according to the JOC.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas, Morris County's count rose from 68 to 70 and Titus County's from 1,025 to 1,029, while Red River County's held at 129, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Case counts went up in seven of eight Southwest Arkansas counties, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Miller County's tally rose frm 368 to 379, with 297 recoveries, two deaths and 80 active cases. Lafayette County's count increased from 41 to 42, Pike County's from 43 to 49, Little River County's from 72 to 75, Hempstead County's from 145 to 150, Howard County's from 209 to 217 and Sevier County's from 880 to 893. Nevada County held at 117 cases.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 103 cases from Wednesday to Thursday, for a total of 5,357, and Bossier Parish added 41 cases to reach 1,742, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 36,259 cases with 386 deaths. Louisiana reported 101,650 cases with 3,574 deaths, and Texas reported 361,125 cases with 4,521 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 3,952,273 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 142,755.
