Internet connection agreement will be focus of TISD meeting

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Texarkana Independent School Board will hold a called meeting of the Board of Trustees on Friday morning to consider the approval of a Region 4 interlocal agreement.

TISD will consider approving about $73,500 for its part in the Operation Connectivity Task Force.

Operation Connectivity is a partnership between Governor Greg Abbott, the Dallas Independent School District, and the Texas Education Agency to connect all of Texas's 5.5 million public school students with a device and reliable Internet connection, according to the Texas Education Agency website.

TISD's estimated share is $73,500, according to the agenda packet.

Because of health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19, members of the public may access this meeting by calling 903-798-6883.

Once the open forum begins, members of the public can sign up to address the board on any topic besides personnel, with a five-minute time limit.

If an interpreter is required, the presentation shall not exceed 10 minutes.
