Man accused in robbery of a local Walmart is expected to enter a plea | Seymour, 77, faces aggravated robbery charges, could see more from related Bossier City case

TEXARKANA, Texas - A 77-year-old man accused of robbing a Walmart at gunpoint earlier this month before attempting to make a getaway in a Smart Car is expected to enter a plea this week in Bowie County.

A docket entry in the case of Ronnie Dean Seymour notes the case is set for a hearing this week before 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison with a plea anticipated. Seymour was arrested for aggravated robbery May 13 in the parking lot of a Lowe's next to a Walmart Supercenter in the 4000 block of New Boston Road in Texarkana, Texas.

Seymour was allegedly wearing a medical mask, a baseball cap, yellow-tinted glasses and white medical gloves when he approached the automotive counter sometime before 2:45 p.m. and paid for a package of shop towels with a $100 bill, according to a probable cause affidavit. When the clerk opened the drawer to make change, Seymour allegedly produced a handgun and demanded "all the money and no change."

The clerk stepped back and the robber stepped around the counter and grabbed approximately $687 in currency from the register's till. A store employee watched the robber as he left through the "general merchandise" doors and headed to a white Smart Car parked between Walmart and Lowe's.

When officers approached Seymour in the Lowe's parking lot, they observed a baseball cap and jacket on the passenger seat which allegedly matched those seen in video surveillance. From Seymour's car, officers allegedly recovered a black pellet gun, wigs, fake mustaches and two notes.

The notes allegedly gave instructions to hand over "money but no dye packs and stated he was armed," as might be expected in a bank robbery. Also recovered was a Texas license plate which Seymour allegedly placed over the car's actual Arkansas plate. Investigators believe Seymour stopped in the Lowes parking lot to remove the Texas plate in an effort to thwart law enforcement's pursuit of him.

According to earlier reports, Seymour is also wanted in connection with the robbery of a Walmart in Bossier City, La. In Louisiana, Seymour allegedly attempted to rob the Money Center of the Walmart Super Center on Airline Drive on May 7, according to a news release from the Bossier City Police Department. The suspect in the Louisiana holdup was wearing a security guard jacket and a black hat with the word security written on it. He was also wearing a face mask, according to the news release.

The terms of any proposed plea agreement are undisclosed. Aggravated robbery is punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison under Texas law. Seymour is currently being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $100,000. Louisiana authorities have a hold on Seymour and he is likely to face charges there once his case in Bowie County is disposed.
