Man sentenced to five years for having more than 600 images of children being exploited

TEXARKANA, Texas -A man who possessed more than 600 images depicting the sexual exploitation of children was sentenced to five years in prison this week by a federal judge in Texarkana.

Danny Lee Collins Jr., 32, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, appeared Tuesday afternoon for sentencing before U.S. District Judge Robert Schroeder III with McKinney, Texas, lawyer Marc Fratter in Texarkana's downtown federal building. Collins pleaded guilty in late-January to the charge.

Schroeder sentenced Collins to a 60-month term with 15 years of supervised release to follow. Should Collins violate the conditions of his supervised release, he could be ordered to serve more time behind bars.

According to a factual basis filed in the Texarkana Division of the Eastern District of Texas in Collins' case, Collins possessed the images on computer equipment seized from him in September 2018.

"I also knew that I possessed more than six hundred images and videos of child pornography, including files depicting prepubescent minors and sadistic or masochistic abuse or other depictions of violence," the factual basis states.

Collins is being held in the Titus County jail until he is transported to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
