Miller County passes century mark in cases of COVID-19

COVID-19 cases in Bowie County rose by five Friday, according to information from the Bowie County Emergency Operations Center. The new cases brought the total number to 247 with 119 recoveries and 16 related deaths.

Cass County numbers held steady on Friday, with a total of 36 cases with 32 recoveries, and two deaths.

Residents are urged to continue following Gov. Greg Abbott's executive orders and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines for social distancing, handwashing and sanitizing.

Elsewhere in East Texas, Morris County numbers remained at 37 cases, Red River County numbers increased by four to 105 and Titus County numbers increased by 12 to 677 on Friday.

Case counts in five Southwest Arkansas counties also increased Friday while numbers in the three other counties stayed the same, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Miller County increased by three to 101 cases. Sevier County increased by 31 cases to 648. Howard County remained at 75 cases. Pike County cases remained at eight.

Little River County remained at 38 cases. Hempstead County increased by one to 47, Nevada County increased by six to 101 while Lafayette County increased by one to 15.

Caddo Parrish in Northwest Louisiana reported 3,161 cases. Bossier Parrish reported 780 cases.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 18,740 cases with 240 deaths, Louisiana reported 54,769 cases with 3,077 deaths and Texas reported 137,624 cases with 2,324 deaths.

The CDC reported 2,374,282 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 121,809.
