TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Animal Care and Adoption Center remains open but is asking visitors to follow new rules to help stop spread of the new coronavirus.

The shelter's doors will be locked, and visitors are asked to call ahead and schedule an appointment before arriving, city Director of Animal Services Kayla Tucker said in a social media post.

"This will help us ensure we are following Governor Hutchinson's recommendation of 10 people or less, and to also ensure us time to sanitize between guests. If you are not feeling well, we do ask that you remain home as well," Tucker said.

For more information or to make an appointment, call the shelter at 870-773-6388.
