Like many restaurants and eateries around town, Shorty's was able to open its dining room Friday for the first time since pandemic restrictions were put into place more than a month ago. When they opened at 6 a.m. they had customers waiting for them, said Brittany Gregory, the cashier. Some tables had chairs on them, as social distancing is still being practiced, including keeping customers a reasonable distance apart. This traditional diner is located at Oaklawn Village, a shipping plaza at the intersection of New Boston and Robison roads.
