Northeast Texas coronavirus case counts increase

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose in four Northeast Texas counties over the weekend.

Bowie County's case count increased by two from Friday to Monday, reaching 107, according to the Bowie County/Cass County emergency Joint Operations Center. Eleven Bowie County residents have died because of COVID-19 disease, and 68 have recovered. Three are hospitalized locally. Cass County added a case to reach 21, with 16 recoveries.

Titus County had 35 cases Monday, up from 29 Friday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Red River County's tally rose from three to nine. Morris County held at nine cases.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County added one case to reach 36, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. Sevier County's count increased by four, from 14 to 18.

Howard County remained at 14 cases, Hempstead County at seven, Lafayette County at nine, Pike County at three, Nevada County at three and Little River County at zero.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 53 cases to reach 1,765. Bossier Parish moved from 308 cases to 312 cases.

Statewide, Texas reported 36,869 cases so far, with 1,100 deaths. Louisiana reported 31,815 cases with 2,242 deaths, and Arkansas reported 4,012 cases with 91 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday reported 1,324,488 total cases so far in the U.S., with 79,756 deaths.
