Two die in head-on collision near Fulton

FULTON, Ark. - A two-vehicle, head-on collision left both drivers dead at 5 a.m. Friday, on Interstate 30, near Fulton.

Joe William Smith II, 39, of Aledo, Texas, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of I-30 when his 2019 GMC truck collided head-on with a westbound 2020 Toyota driven by Dajuan Ricardo Horton, 28, of Cordova, Tennessee, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The collision caused Smith's truck to veer off south and overturn in I-30's median, while Horton's Toyota veered to the north before coming to a stop. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Hempstead County Coroner's office shortly after 5:45 a.m. Friday.
