Grand jury indicts Nash man for multiple felony child-sex crimes

TEXARKANA, Texas - A Nash, Texas, man accused of misconduct with an infant and two teen girls has been indicted for 12 felony sex crimes by a Bowie County grand jury.

David Louis Jones, 24, is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 for his alleged molestation of a girl who turned 1-year this month. The offense is punishable by 25 to 99 years or life in prison and there is no parole from any sentence imposed. That means Jones faces a minimum of 25 years without parole if convicted.

Jones has been charged with 10 counts of sexual assault of a child involving misconduct with a 14-year-old girl and a single count of sexual assault of a child in connection with alleged misconduct with a second teen girl.

Jones was first interviewed by an investigator with Nash police Feb. 23, according to a probable cause affidavit. Asked if he had inappropriately touched a 1-year-old girl born in May 2018, Jones allegedly wrote the word, "Yes," on a piece of paper.

Jones allegedly confessed to molesting the baby, to whom he is related, on repeated occasions when left alone with her from the time of the girl's birth. A month later, Jones allegedly admitted to having sexual encounters with a 14-year-old girl multiple times beginning in the fall of 2019 and ending in January.

"Jones stated that he knew what he was doing was wrong but couldn't comprehend how something that felt so good was wrong," the affidavit states.

Investigators allegedly found nude photos of the girl on Jones' phone as well as an audio file that demonstrated illegal sexual contact with the girl. Additionally, Jones allegedly confessed to having one inappropriate sexual encounter with a different teen girl in 2014 when he was 19 or 20 and she was 15.

Bail on the aggravated sexual assault of a child charge involving the baby is set at $200,000 and bail on charges involving the teens totals $200,000. Court records show Jones has been in custody since March 24.

The case is assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison. The Bowie County Public Defenders Office is listed as representing Jones. Jones is expected to appear before Addison for arraignment next week.
