Local man accused of five counts of rape

TEXARKANA, Arkansas - A man accused of sexually abusing a girl, from age 12 to 14, is being held in the Miller County jail with bail set at $250,000.

Jedediah Stonestreet, 40, was arrested last week for five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault. Stonestreet allegedly molested a girl who was living with him part-time but not his biological child, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The alleged victim, now 14, made an outcry of sexual abuse to a family member who then contacted law enforcement. The girl allegedly told a forensic interviewer at the Texarkana Children's Advocacy Center that Stonestreet first touched her sexually when she was 12 and began having sex with her when she was 13.

The girl reported that she was moved to come forward because the abuse "was getting worse" and she feared he might molest younger children to whom he had access.

An 8-year-old girl also lived in the Texarkana, Arkansas, house at the same time as the alleged victim, and can allegedly provide information that support the allegations.

Each of the five counts of rape facing Stonestreet is punishable by ten to 40 years or life in prison.
