Miller and Bowie counties add 179 COVID-19 cases between them

From Thursday to Monday, the number of deaths because of COVID-19 increased by two in Miller County, Arkansas, by one in Bowie County, Texas, and by two in Cass County, Texas.

Miller County's death toll rose from 14 to 16 in that time, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. The county's cumulative number of confirmed coronavirus cases increased from 1,238 to 1,337, with 1,131 recoveries and 190 current active cases.

Elsewhere in Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County's case count went up from 156 to 176, Pike County's from 258 to 277, Nevada County's from 290 to 308, Little River County's from 423 to 441, Hempstead County's from 511 to 534, Howard County's from 543 to 558 and Sevier County's from 1,252 to 1,274, according to ADH.

Bowie County currently has 351 active cases, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center. The county's case count rose from 1,941 to 2,021 Thursday to Monday, with 1,589 recoveries.

Cass County has 82 active cases, according to the JOC. Cumulative cases in the county increased from 533 to 562, with 455 recoveries.

In Northwest Texas, Red River County's case tally went up from 199 to 202, Morris County's from 229 to 237 and Titus County's from 1,599 to 1,614, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

In Northwest Louisiana, Caddo Parish's case count rose from 10,206 to 10,370 and Bossier Parish's from 4,322 to 4,399, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide on Monday, Arkansas reported 104,703 cumulative cases and 1,985 deaths, Louisiana reported 183,616 cases and 5,720 deaths and Texas reported 909,257 cases and 18,097 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 9,182,628 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 230,383.
