TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Opportunities Inc. campus played host Thursday to this year's Opportunities Inc., Autumn Luncheon. According to Rebekah Drennon, development director, usually the event is hosted at a home. But due to current COVID-19 complications, the luncheon organizers had to adapt the event. This they did, with boxed lunches handed to drive-through diners.

"We've been hosting this event for 36 years," Drennon said. "It is our signature event, done every fall. Out of consideration for the health and safety of everyone involved, we set up a drive-through style luncheon this year."

The event is underwritten by Dolly Dunklin Marting and is the premiere event of the Opportunities Inc. Foundation Board. Marting underwrites the event because she has two grandchildren with developmental disabilities.

The lunch was prepared by Chef Marjorie Slimer, and also came with a recipe card featuring one of her specialty desserts.

Nancy Sandefur and Joan Carter worked together to create the Opportunities Inc. Foundation Board to bring together a group of women whose purpose was to raise public awareness about Opportunities Inc.

Opportunities Inc. is an organization that works to bring out the promise and potential of children and adults with disabilities. It strive to positively affect the quality of life for children and adults with any kind of disability.
