TEXARKANA, Texas - Texarkana Yoga, 2011 Mall Drive No. 5, has passed to new ownership. Jessica Gray, now in charge, promises that no major changes will be made at this time.

"We've got a nice group of students now who have been coming to us for some time," she said. "We have a great set of classes led by awesome instructors for a wide range of needs and levels. One thing I was sure of was I wanted to maintain what we already do, what our long-time students have come to expect from this practice."

Though Texarkana Yoga is long established, Gray says it is a "welcoming" studio, quick to make visitors and new student feel at home.

"No pressure, everyone is friendly and respectful," she said.

Gray, who practices yoga herself, is new to running a yoga studio, but she has been a business owner for years.

"I first went into business as a hair dresser, which I still do," she said. "I love it and I'm not giving it up. Hairstyling is all about building relationships, getting to know your clients and their needs."

She has been building relationships with clients at Texarkana Yoga using the same approach.

"I started teaching here June of this year," she said. "That also helped in maintaining a non-cliquey, non-clubby atmosphere in this place. It is like a family here, lots of camaraderie."

The idea, she said, if for Texarkana Yoga to be a sanctuary.

" I want everyone here to be able to trust this studio and the people here," she said, "a place they can rely on and a safe place to land. In times like these, a place like this is more important than ever."

Gray said the transition between interim owner Katherine Weber and herself have gone smoothly.

"She's fabulous and smoothed things over for me," Gray said. "She got lots of the busywork completed by the time I took the baton. This allowed me to concentrate more on the yoga."

The studio works hard to accommodate its clients' needs.

"Some of the students here have families and responsibilities they have to juggle," she said. "So we do our best to make thing easier for them. We have classes with family and kid appeal, and do our best to make sure everyone is taken care of while they are here."
